We love a good Aussie NBN provider. But what do we know about Swoop? Do they offer exclusive perks? Do they have competitive pricing? Swoop offers a range of NBN plans across multiple speed tiers with impressive evening speeds of 100Mbps on its NBN 100 plans. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. Here's everything you need to know about Swoop NBN.
What is Swoop NBN?
Swoop is based in regional Victoria and, as such, has an Australian-based customer support team. Its NBN plans cover both residential users and businesses and offer no lock-in contracts. There are a few pros and cons to Swoop, which we've highlighted below:
- No data caps
- Refer a friend program
- Over 25 years of experience
- Plans aren't competitively priced
- Not a whole lot of perks included
Swoop NBN plans
Swoop sells NBN plans on most speed tiers including:
- NBN 25
- NBN 50
- NBN 100/20 and NBN 100/40
- NBN 250
- NBN 1000
Whichever you choose depends entirely on what NBN speed you need. Here's a breakdown of how many people can comfortably use each NBN speed tier:
| Speed tier | Best for | Max. speeds |
|---|---|---|
| NBN 12 | Lone, low internet users | 12Mbps |
| NBN 25 | Budget pick for 1-2 people | 25Mbps |
| NBN 50 | All-rounder for small households of 2-4 people | 50Mbps |
| NBN 100 | For WFH and larger households | 100Mbps |
| NBN 250 | Faster speeds for WFH and larger households | 250Mbps |
| NBN 500 | Seamless internet experience when everyone is online | 500Mbps |
| NBN 750 | Even faster speeds for simultaneous use | 750Mbps |
| NBN 1000 | The fastest speeds you can get for less than $100 per month | 1000Mbps |
| NBN 2000 | The fastest speeds you can get right now, at a premium | 2000Mbps |
All Swoop NBN plans offer unlimited data, with plans on the NBN 25 tier starting at $59 per month and its NBN 1000 tier setting customers back $149 per month, without applying any discounts.

And here's how Swoop's plans compare to other providers, based on price, across varying speed tiers:
NBN 50 plans are your best bang for your buck option when it comes to the NBN. They are affordable and are a good option for households with two to four people. An NBN 50 plan will ensure everyone in your household is able to partake in their favourite online activities, whether it's streaming movies and music, online gaming or video calling with overseas friends and family.

NBN 100 plans are the next logical step if you don't think NBN 50 will cut it for you. You get twice the download speed, meaning your connection will go as fast as 100Mbps. Most NBN 100 plans have upload speeds of 20Mbps, which is the same as what you get on NBN 50. We'd say NBN 100 plans are best for large households or anyone who regularly downloads large files, such as new-release video games.

NBN 250 plans are a little more expensive than what you'd pay for on an NBN 100 plan but are perfect if you crave a faster connection.
NBN 250 plans are only available to those who have an FTTP or a HFC NBN connection.

If you're looking for the fastest NBN speed tier possible, you'll want an NBN 1000 plan. NBN 1000 plans can offer download speeds of up to 1Gbps and upload speeds of 50Mbps. Like NBN 250 plans, NBN 1000 plans are only available to those with an FTTP or HFC connection. All FTTP addresses can get NBN 1000, but only around 95% of HFC can.

What makes Swoop NBN different?
While Swoop's NBN 25 and NBN 50 plans sit middle of the pack, its NBN 250 and NBN 1000 plans are priced quite competitively.
In terms of perks, Swoop is no stranger to offering discounts off plans for the first six months. It also offers a $15 credit to yourself and a referring friend to take off your monthly bill for the first six months. Swoop also doesn't cap how many refer-a-friend discounts you can bundle so, for example, if you refer four friends you could score $60 per month off your first six months!
How do I sign up for a Swoop NBN plan?
The process of signing up for a Swoop plan can vary depending on what stage of the NBN journey you're on. If you don't have NBN at your address at all, it's a $300 fee (charged by NBN) for first-time installation. Swoop does not organise this service for you, so you'll need to make sure this is done before signing up for an NBN plan with the telco.
If you are already set up to receive NBN and are simply switching providers, the process is easy. First, check your address below to make sure you can receive the type of plan you're after:
Next, choose the most suitable NBN plan to suit your data usage, as discussed earlier, and sign up online or via Swoop's Australian-based service team. Then either plug in your existing modem or if you opted for Swoop's pre-configured modem-router, you'll have to wait for yours to arrive.
In most cases, switching from one NBN service to another involves minimal downtime — between thirty minutes and a few hours. It is possible to be connected to your new NBN provider on the same day your order is placed, however, this depends on the technology type connecting your home to the NBN.
Remember you're responsible for cancelling your old internet service. After your new NBN connection is live, sometimes your old provider will contact you to notify your service has been cancelled. Otherwise, you will need to reach out to your old provider and cancel your plan.
Swoop NBN FAQs
How fast are Swoop's NBN plans?
Swoop offers NBN 25, NBN 50, NBN 100/20, NBN 100/40, NBN 250, and NBN 1000 plans. During peak hours, Swoop reports typical speeds of 25Mbps on its NBN 25 plans, 50Mbps on its NBN 50 plans, typical speeds of 100Mbps on both its NBN 100 plans, typical speeds of 250Mbps on NBN 250 plans, and typical speeds of 582Mbps on NBN 1000 plans.
What happens if I want to cancel my Swoop NBN plan?
All of Swoop's NBN plans are contract-free so you can cancel any time. We recommend cancelling towards the end of your billing month as Swoop charges for the full month in advance. If you leave before the end of your billing cycle, you won't be refunded.
Do you have to buy a new modem to sign up for Swoop
No, Swoop offers a TP-Link VX230v dual-band WiFi 6 EasyMesh modem-router for an extra $180 on its NBN plans or you can save a few bucks and bring your own.
