NBN Plan Features
Internet Only
This is an internet only service which does not include a phone line. You will not be able to make or receive calls (including emergency 000 calls), or support a lift or medical or security alarm which relies on a phone line to operate.
BYO Modem
You are required to bring your own compatible modem or purchase a modem from Telstra. The Telstra Smart Modem 4 is available for purchase for $240 with free delivery. It comes with 4G backup and gives customers access to more speed on more devices in more corners of the home. It includes the newest Wi-fi 6 technology which is paired with innovative software that helps improve the speed of the Wi-fi delivered to devices.

If you’re not happy with your nbn service, let Telstra know within 30 days of connecting and if they can't fix it, you can cancel your nbn services without penalty. First time Telstra on nbn connections only.
Telstra Plus™
Customers who join Telstra Plus will have access to exciting membership benefits such as discounted tickets, entertainment extras on us and VIP services. An nbn service can never go faster than the maximum line speed available at your premises, so for FTTN/B/C customers we will confirm your maximum attainable speed after connection and let you know if your line is not able to achieve the maximum speed of your plan.
The ‘typical busy period speeds’ are not measures of customers’ actual in-premises speeds, which may be slower. Not all customers receive these speeds.

Medical security alarms, lift phones and fire indicator panels: If you have a back-to-base security alarm or medi-alert connected to your home phone service, it’s important you contact your medical or security provider to check if they’re compatible with the nbn network or the Opticomm access network and identify what alternatives are available.
nbn® New Development Charge:If you’re in a new development without existing phone or internet infrastructure, nbn co may impose a $300 New Development Charge (NDC) to connect you to the nbn network. This includes new lots, subdivisions, and granny flats with a separate address from the primary residence. If applicable, we will bill that charge to you and we will let you know at the time of confirming your order and you will have the option to cancel. Extra charges may apply for non-standard or professional installation of Telstra or nbn co equipment and for premises in new developments. Once you are connected to nbn fibre, you won’t be able to move to our copper network.

Why Telstra?
If you're ready to jump to a new broadband plan - and only the best will do - there's a reason why Telstra is still Australia's biggest telco. Telstra isn't usually the best option for more budget-conscious customers, but if you're after quality, reliability and speed, Telstra has plenty of offer with a wide range of NBN and mobile broadband plans.
Types of Telstra plans
NBN
If you're after a Telstra NBN plan, you can pick from six speed tiers: NBN 25, NBN 50, NBN 100, NBN 500, NBN 750, and NBN 1000. Just be aware that NBN 500 plans are only available to addresses that have an FTTP or HFC connection type.
That being said, most FTTN and FTTC addresses can now request a free upgrade to FTTP by ordering an NBN 500 plan or faster, through an eligible provider like Telstra. Read more about the free upgrade process here.
Telstra offers two types of NBN plans: "Upfront" and "internet-only".
Upfront plans include a modem and 4G backup, and are bundled with a home phone landline at no extra cost, with unlimited calls to standard Australian mobiles and landlines.
Internet-only plans, like the name suggests, only give you internet. You don't get the modem, 4G backup, or phone calls, but as such, they are cheaper. Telstra will still sell you a modem if you buy an internet-only plan and want one, but it won't have 4G backup.

Be aware that if you leave a Telstra Upfront NBN plan within the first 24 months, you'll need to return your modem or pay a hardware fee.
Mobile broadband
Telstra also has a small range of mobile broadband plans. These can be purchased as a SIM-only option or paired with a portable modem.
How to switch to Telstra
To find out if you're eligible for a Telstra NBN plan, first check your address in our broadband search engine. If your home is covered by Telstra, all available plans will be listed in the search results.
Decide on the right plan for you, click the Go To Site button and follow the prompts. The Telstra team will help you to organise an installation date and time, plus take care of transferring your home phone number to your new account, where possible.
If you already have an NBN connection with another provider, that's no problem - simply follow the same steps as above. However, since you've already got NBN, you won't need a technician to visit your home or office. Instead, Telstra will be able to simply activate your new NBN service. In most cases, your new plan should be live within a day. Be sure to check that your old NBN plan has been cancelled with your previous provider after your Telstra service is live.
Another important thing to note: while having your premise connected to the NBN is free for most customers (excluding the upfront costs you may need to pay when signing up for a plan), if you're located in a newly developed area with no existing telecommunications infrastructure, you may be charged a $300 New Development Fee by NBN Co.
